Relationship Suggested Between Vitamin D and Rheumatoid Arthritis

The January issue of 'Arthritis & Rheumatism' reports that, according to results from the Iowa Women's Health Study, greater intake of vitamin D may be associated with a lower risk of Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) in older women.

The study, which analyzed data from over 29,000 women ages 55-69 with no prior history of Rhematoid Arthritis, suggested, over 11 years of followup, an inverse association between both dietarty and supplemental Vitamin D with risk of RA.
