Weider Global Nutrition, a health and wellness nutritional company, announced that Lyndon Johnson will retire from the company to start his own consulting venture and that John Rizzo will replace him and will continue to expand existing marketing efforts in North America. Rizzo, who has over 20 years of experience in sales and marketing, was previously the company's senior director of sales.
Johnson will serve under a limited consulting agreement for the company. "I have shared many professional and personal experiences over the last two decades with Lyndon, and I appreciate he will continue forward in this new capacity," said Rick Blair, president and CEO of Weider. "Lyndon has reached a point in his career where he is in a position to find a quality of life balance between family and business. Thus, I have positive thoughts for Lyndon, and I know his family and friends feel the same."
Blair goes on to state, "Since we are now a private company due to the Weider family purchasing the Weider branded business from the public company in 2005, we initially focused on solidifying our international business units, which we have accomplished over the last five years. However, we are now channeling our capital investments into the U.S. market. We have added six new business managers over the last 12 to 18 months and strongly believe they are solid building blocks for our future. The leader of this group is John Rizzo. I am pleased to have John move into the role of leading our North American sales and marketing strategy. John's unique and diverse background, coupled with his deep retail roots and distribution understanding, will also be an invaluable asset in our achieving long-term effects."

Prior to his joining Weider, Rizzo served in a managerial role for Dental Oral Care where he was responsible for product sourcing, development, packaging development, product assembly and ultimately retail execution and tracking in the Western part of the U.S. He also was the vice president of national accounts for Leiner Health Care where he closely monitored profit and loss activity at every level of the organization and executed brand development strategies, growth tactics and strategic alliance initiatives. Prior to that, he was the senior manager responsible for team analytical communication for the fourth largest account at SmithKline Beecham Consumer Healthcare at GlaxoSmithKline.
Looking at the existing relationships with distribution channels and executing on a comprehensive marketing strategy for new products including Immune Shot™, an all-natural immune booster for the whole family; and Red Yeast Rice, a cholesterol lowering supplement; will be the first order of business for Rizzo in his new role at Weider.
Rizzo has already assumed his new title and role.
