In operation since Jan. 1, 2012, the new Rousselot Expertise Center officially opened its doors on June 20, 2012, in the presence of Dirk Kloosterboer, chairman of Rousselot and VION Ingredients.
This new Center encompasses the Global Research & Development Laboratory and the European (EMEA) Application Laboratory. It is located at one of Rousselot’s largest production sites in Gent in modern infrastructures, especially designed to provide Rousselot scientific teams with a state-of-the art environment. With this new Center, Rousselot strengthens its ambitions to drive innovation and growth in the worldwide gelatine and collagen peptides market.
According to Fred Beekmans, director of R&D and quality of VION Ingredients, "This state-of-the-art facility will focus on new product development and innovation and will help us bring an enhanced quality of service to our customers. Our research teams continue to further improve our ingredients’ performance in applications while also placing the nutrition and health aspects at the heart of their research efforts.”
The inauguration was attended by Rousselot large accounts, members of the Gent community, researchers and scientists from the University of Gent and other European research organizations, as well as Rousselot and VION Ingredients key executives.
