Sabinsa Corporation Receives Two Business Achievement Awards from Nutrition Business Journal

PISCATAWAY, N.J., February 21, 2006 - Sabinsa Corporation, a manufacturer and supplier of high quality herbal extracts, cosmeceuticals, minerals and specialty fine chemicals, was awarded a product merit award by Nutrition Business Journal (NBJ) for their branded L-(+)-Selenomethionine compound, Selenium SeLECT(R), and an investment in science and research award for ForsLean(R), the company's branded and patented Coleus forskohlii extract ingredient used to improve body composition.

NBJ, a research, publishing and consulting company serving the nutrition, natural products and alternative health care industries, present their annual Business Achievement Awards to companies for their distinguished achievements in various business categories within the natural products industry including: growth in large, mid-size and small companies; growth in ingredient suppliers; stock performance; investment in science and research; efforts on behalf of the industry; personal achievement; environment and sustainability; social responsibility; customer service and education; and product merit. Awards will be presented to attending companies in a special ceremony at the NBJ Newport Summit, July 26 - 28, 2006, in Dana Point, Calif.

"We are pleased to be recognized by Nutrition Business Journal for not only our commitment to producing ingredients of the highest quality, but our continual investment in proprietary research to further validate the safety and efficacy of our offerings," stated Todd Norton, president, Sabinsa Corporation.

ForsLean was honored with the investment in science and research award because of the numerous scientific studies completed and published in 2005 confirming its safety and efficacy in increasing lean body mass and optimizing body composition. "Body Composition and Hormonal Adaptations Associated with Forskolin Consumption in Overweight and Obese Men" published in the Journal of Obesity Research, "Effects of Coleus forskohlii extract supplementation on body composition and markers of health in sedentary overweight females" published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition and a third study conducted by the Kasturba Medical College in Manipal, India, all revealed that subjects receiving ForsLean showed statistically significant increases in lean body mass levels and reductions in body fat percentages, body weight and body mass index with no adverse side effects.

The product merit award recognized the advantages of Selenium SeLECT, the most bioavailable, pure and safe form of selenium and the worldwide quality standard for selenomethionine. Selenium SeLECT has always been well within U.S. Pharmacopeia standards for heavy metal content, however, in 2005 Sabinsa further tightened specifications to ensure it continues to exceed increasingly stringent worldwide regulations. Selenium SeLECT was also exempted from the European Union Food Supplements Directive, which sought to ban more than 300 "potentially unsafe" supplement ingredients. A recent study entitled "Effectiveness of selenium supplements in a low-selenium area of China" published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition showed Selenium SeLECT to be nearly twice as bioavailable as inorganic forms of selenium. Additionally, Selenium SeLECT was certified by NSF International and received Frost & Sullivan's Technology Innovation Award for the U.S.
Mineral and Fortification Market in 2005.
