Scientific Marketing Specialist Joins MWW Group

CHICAGO, August 29, 2005 – MWW Group (, one of the nation’s top ten public relations firms, today announced the addition of scientific marketing specialist Jennifer Furey as account supervisor in the agency’s Nutritionals and Functional Foods Practice. The hiring of Furey further bolsters MWW’s leadership in serving the natural products marketplace and advances the firm’s expertise in communicating scientific research. Furey joins MWW with years of experience promoting major studies and clinical trials for Abbott Laboratories, Bayer Aspirin and Pharmacia, among others.

Prior to joining MWW, Furey handled scientific communications at Abbott Laboratories, helping to launch Humira, a revolutionary new treatment for rheumatoid arthritis, as well as promoting research for drugs like Synthroid, Meridia, and TriCor. Furey directed media outreach to support Bayer Aspirin’s research into its indications for pain, cardiovascular disease and stroke. She garnered more than 300 million media impressions for the Bayer Aspirin and American Stroke Association “American Stroke Challenge” program. At Edelman’s Worldwide Healthcare Practice, Furey educated consumers and the medical community about breaking news in diabetes, E. coli infections and anti-infectives and handled new product launches for Accu-Chek Glucose Monitors. She executed science communications and clinical trial recruitment for a breakthrough antibiotic from Pharmacia – Zyvox. Furey oversaw writing, editing and production of the Science Writer’s Guide to Antimicrobial Therapy. Her experience includes work with clinical trial supervisors, investigators and recruitment organizations to facilitate and report on Phase III clinical trials.
