Socially Responsible Business Awards Issues Call For Nominations

BOSTON, MA (June 11, 2008) – Nominations are now open for the 14th Socially Responsible Business Awards (SRBA). This award celebrates the highest social ideals successfully applied to business.

The winners of the 2008 SRBA will be honored during a free breakfast at the Boston Convention Center on Friday, October 10, 2008. The event will also feature an interview-style discussion with internationally known social entrepreneur and Clif Bar founder Gary Erickson.

All nominations submissions must be delivered to the SRBA office no later than the August 31, 2008 deadline. Nomination forms may be downloaded from the SRBA web site:

The awards are granted to up to five companies that have demonstrated excellence in integrating social responsibility in multiple aspects of their businesses. The contestants are judged in six categories: Community Involvement, Education, Health, Employee Empowerment, Environment, and Sourcing.

Past winners have included companies of all sizes and product categories, including NOW Foods, Dr. Bronner’s, Dagoba Chocolates, Guyaki Sustainable Rainforest Products, Earth Friendly Products, EcoTeas, Seventh Generation, Tom’s of Maine, Zhena’s Gypsy Tea, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Guayaki, Maggie's Organics, and Nancy's Yogurt/Springfield Creamery, to name a few.

Special recognition awards have been given to Alfredo Sfeir-Younis, Special Advisor to the Managing Director of the World Bank, and vegetarian activist and author Howard Lyman, President and founder of Voice for a Viable Future and former cattle rancher who was Oprah Winfrey’s co-defendant in the Texas Cattlemen trial .
