Solae named one of the 2011 'World's Most Ethical Companies'

Solae, LLC has been recognized by the Ethisphere Institute as one of the 2011 World's Most Ethical (WME) Companies. This is the second consecutive year Solae has been honored by Ethisphere for this award.

Solae, LLC, a joint venture between DuPont and Bunge and a world leader in soy ingredients, has been recognized by the Ethisphere Institute as one of the 2011 World's Most Ethical (WME) Companies. This is the second consecutive year Solae has been honored by Ethisphere for this award. Out of a record number of nominations for the award, Solae secured a hard-earned spot on the list. Solae went the extra mile, implementing upright business practices and initiatives that are instrumental to the company's success, benefit the community and raise the bar for ethical standards within the food industry.

"Solae has a deep commitment to ethics in all that we do and it's one of four core values," said Cornel Fuerer, vice president, general counsel and chief compliance officer, Solae. "To be honored for the second year as one of the World's Most Ethical Companies is both rewarding for what we have accomplished and motivating to continue to make ethics a priority in all aspects of our business."

Earlier in 2011, Solae also earned the Ethics Inside(TM) Certification from Ethisphere, which is awarded exclusively to companies that not only have implemented adequate standards, systems and programs to reasonably prevent compliance failures and ethical breakdowns, but also can demonstrate the existence of a superior employee and leadership culture that promotes ethical business practices.

This is the fifth year Ethisphere has published the WME rankings, which appear in Ethisphere Magazine's Q1 issue. Ethisphere reviewed thousands of companies and evaluated a record number of applications utilizing its propriety methodology through in-depth research and multi-step analysis, naming 110 companies that surpassed their industry peers to this year's World's Most Ethical Companies list. The 2011 list features companies in 38 industries including 43 companies headquartered outside the United States. Solae is on the list with a number of other highly reputable food companies this year including General Mills, PepsiCo and Stonyfield Farm.

"As companies strive to maintain a competitive advantage, good ethics translate into better business, and better business means better bottom lines. Solae recognizes the important role that principled practices play in brand reputation, which ultimately is the most valuable asset for a company," said Alex Brigham, executive director—the Ethisphere Institute. "Each year, the competition gets more intense for the World's Most Ethical Companies and this year was no exception with a record number of organizations vying for this distinguished honor. Ethisphere congratulates Solae on being one of the World's Most Ethical Companies for 2011."
