Spain to Restrict Access to 151 Herbs

According to an article in El Periodico (spain) , the Spanish Department of Health is in the process of banning 151 herbs from sale except as pharmaceutical or homeopathic products. The decree is expected to affect products with therapeutic properties, including those with potential toxic effects as well as stimulants. The last draft also reduces the number of plants of traditional use from 210 to 175.

The article states that, at present, only 35% of herbal products are sold in pharmacies with the remainder distributed through other channels.
