Speakers at 2011 Food Safety Summit to address FDA retail food safety initiatives

With the recent release of the FDA's reports on Foodborne Illness Risk Factors at Retail and the pending revisions to the FDA Food Code, the Food Safety Summit is announcing the addition of a 90 minute session on retail food safety.

With the recent release of the FDA's reports on Foodborne Illness Risk Factors at Retail and the pending revisions to the FDA Food Code, the Food Safety Summit is announcing the addition of a 90 minute session on retail food safety. The session, scheduled for Wednesday, April 20 at 4:15 pm, will include a presentation by Laurie Williams, Retail Food Protection Team in FDA's Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition on FDA's Retail Food Safety Initiative and the FDA Food Code. Ms. Williams will also review the results of FDA's Retail Food Risk Factor Study, which published in October 2010.

Following Ms. Williams’s presentation Hal King, Senior Manager, Food Safety, Chick-fil-A will give a presentation on the foodservice industry's perspective and innovative approach to implement meaningful food safety programs. At the conclusion of both presentations there will be a Q&A session for the audience with the speakers.
