Special Lecture on the 2006 NutrAward Winner - Av / Avemar: From Nobel Prize to Prized Nutrient

Dynamic Dr. James B. LaValle presents the latest research on
American BioSciences’ NutrAward-Winning Product at Expo West

Saturday, March 10th, 2007, Room 205A, 10:00 to 11:00 am

Book signing by Dr. LaValle to follow lecture, 11:30 am
at American BioSciences’ Expo West Booth #1413 –1415

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn about the extensive research behind Avé™, the first dietary ingredient to contain the novel nutritional compound Avemar®. This supplement was voted “Best New Product” and was elected the Winner of the NutrAward by attendees of Nutracon and Natural Products Expo West 2006. James LaValle, R.Ph, NMD, CCN, ND, author, media personality, and clinical practitioner, will present details of research, extending from the science of Nobel Prize Laureate Dr. Albert Szent-Gyorgyi, to recent clinical trials, along with observations from his own clinical practice.

Dr. LaValle is an energetic and accomplished presenter, and this is an excellent opportunity for retail personnel, nutritional counselors, and scientists involved with dietary supplements to become acquainted with a new natural compound, that has gained the endorsement of many physicians and experts in the field. Following the lecture, attendees are invited to meet Dr. James LaValle and obtain an autographed copy of his book, Cracking the Metabolic Code, at American BioSciences Booth # 1413-1415 from 11:30 to 12:30 pm.

Avemar is a nutritional ingredient made by the fermentation of wheat germ by baker's yeast through a patented process. It is standardized on the compound DMBQ (di-methoxy-substituted benzoquinones), and has been the subject of close to 100 studies in cell lines, and with animal and human subjects, resulting in more than 20 articles in peer-reviewed medical journals. Studies conducted in the US, Hungary, Israel, Russia and other countries show the compound works to optimize metabolism and immune system function in conditions in which either or both are challenged.

Use of Avemar as a dietary supplement has been shown to support mechanisms of cell metabolic regulation, so that cells in our bodies use glucose, their basic fuel source, at a steady rate through healthy oxidative pathways. Healthy metabolic rate and pathways can be altered by injury and stress resulting in a variety of health conditions. Injury and stress can also alter immune response, and Avemar has been shown to support mechanisms of innate and acquired immune system regulation. Avemar use improves the balance of cellular and humoral immune activity, the ratio of Th1 and Th2 cytokines, promotes optimal NK (Natural Killer) cell recognition, and the coordinated response of macrophages, B-cell and T-cells.

In Hungary, where Avemar was invented and where it is manufactured, it is classified as a “medical food,” and is a standard treatment and approved therapy for many health conditions. It is available as a food product or dietary supplement in many European and Asian countries. American BioSciences completed the US FDA process of establishing Avemar as GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe), a designation that allows its use in foods, beverages, and dietary supplements. Avé is a dietary supplement instant drink mix and is the first US product to contain Avemar.
