ANAHEIM, Calif., Mar 21, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- It is an upbeat economic forecast for the natural and organic products industry based on the brisk business done at the recent Natural Products Expo West, the most diverse and largest natural and organic products tradeshow on the planet, which took place here March 17-20 at the Anaheim Convention Center.
The positive statistics at the packed tradeshow broke historical records with more than 2,590 exhibits and 38,000 attendees from 83 countries. Retail attendance posted an impressive jump, with an upward trend in buyers from independent stores as well as large box store chains, further proof of the continued mainstreaming of natural and organic consumer goods in the marketplace.
The aisles of Natural Products Expo West, produced by New Hope Natural Media, a division of Penton Media Inc.(PTON), were brimming with the latest food, beverage, dietary supplement and personal care items. The show resonated with proactive solutions for the current public health crisis with more than 65 seminars and workshops. Keynote speakers were Dr. Andrew Weil, focusing on the changing face of healthcare, and Dr. Nicholas V. Perricone, focusing on anti-aging solutions.
"We're ecstatic by the growth and diversity on display at Natural Products Expo West," said Fredrik M. Linder, president of New Hope Natural Media, "but we're not surprised. More people than ever are choosing to take greater control over their health. This translates to making better choices at the grocery store, pharmacy, and in restaurants. Our industry fills the gap like no other."
All of the consumer product trends seen this year on the Expo show floor are tied to the first links in the manufacturing production chain: product development, ingredients and technology. Co-located at Natural Products Expo West, SupplyExpo, the leading tradeshow for ingredients and technology in the health and nutrition industry, and Nutracon, the premier industry conference for new product development, also showed record attendance. In addition, this marked the launch of the Healthy Baking Conference, a standing-room only event about healthy ingredients in baked goods.
New Hope Natural Media's next North American trade show, Natural Products Expo East, takes place Sept. 15-18, 2005, in Washington DC. For more information on New Hope Natural Media's full roster of events and publications, visit www.newhope.com.
