“Super Vitamin E” shows super health benefits
Davos Life Science showcases latest innovation T3Boost™ at Vitafoods 2010
18 May 2010, Geneva Switzerland – Davos Life Science introduced its latest innovation, T3Boost™, to the global nutraceutical industry, at the Vitafoods 2010 event today. Derived from palm oil, this patent-pending innovation is Davos Life Science’s solution for food and supplement manufacturers, who are seeking to infuse the health benefits of tocotrienol into their products. Also known as the “Super Vitamin E”, tocotrienol demonstrates superior health benefits as compared to the more commonly-used form of Vitamin E - tocopherol. Unlike other fat-soluble supplements, T3Boost™ is water-soluble, making it ideal for use in the Food and Beverage industry. Davos Life Science will be at booth 958, at Vitafoods 2010.
Matters of the heart
Every year, an estimated 16.7 million people succumb to heart disease, which accounts for nearly 30% of the total global deaths. Many of those who survive continue to suffer from painful symptoms, disabilities or reduced life expectancy. Despite progress in medical science, few breakthroughs have been made in preventing heart disease, apart from the doctor’s advice of “eat right and exercise”.
However, latest scientific research has demonstrated that tocotrienol plays an important role in supporting the cardiovascular system, reducing likelihood of heart disease and maintaining healthy cholesterol levels. Scientists believe tocotrienol’s health benefits are due to its ability to down-regulate an enzyme called HMG-CoA reductase, which in turn limits cholesterol synthesis in the liver.
Other scientific studies showing tocotrienol’s benefits on cardiovascular disease management include the following:
- A number of human clinical studies on the oral administration of tocotrienol have shown a significant impact on known cardiovascular disease factors. These include reduction in cholesterol levels, cardiovascular inflammation, arterial hardening and triglyceride levels.
- A study with human subjects who received 100mg of tocotrienol per day showed total cholesterol drop by 22% and a LDL cholesterol reduction of 20%.
In addition to maintaining cardiovascular health, scientific research has demonstrated tocotrienol’s health benefits in other disease areas. These include lowering the risk of cancers (e.g. breast cancer, prostate cancer and pancreatic cancer) and side effects of cancer treatments, reducing high blood pressure, anti-inflammation and anti-oxidant properties, and regulating blood sugar.
Health benefits of T3Boost™
T3Boost™ contains high amounts of both gamma and delta tocotrienol. This combination has been found to be superior to maintaining healthy cholesterol levels.
“Davos Life Science operates a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Singapore and the world’s largest R&D centre focusing purely on tocotrienol research. Because of this, we are able to produce the highest purity natural tocotrienol, as well as conduct research, generating scientifically-proven health benefits of tocotrienol. We look forward to working with partners on creating the next generation of products that address the concerns of people, who care for their hearts,” explained Mr Arthur Ling, CEO of Davos Life Science.
“We have put in place a top-notch sales and marketing team comprising people with decades of experience in the food industry, who are able to help formulators interested in developing new products with a ‘healthy heart’ concept. In addition, we work together with our clients to attain various desirable product attributes, like the right texture and flavour profiles as well as help them improve product efficacy and build brand equity,” said Dr Tieh Koun Koh, Director Sales and Marketing, Davos Life Science.
