Univera, Unigen get new Seattle headquarters

More than 100 employees in research and development, sales and marketing, and administration have moved to the new 70,000-square-foot headquarters.

Seattle’s burgeoning life sciences and biotechnology community grew this week through the opening of the new corporate headquarters of Univera, a nutritional products company, and Unigen, a research and development company in the natural products industry.

More than 100 employees in research and development, sales and marketing, and administration have moved into the companies’ new, four-story, 70,000-square-foot headquarters located at 3005 1st Avenue in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood. Based in Lacey, Wash., since 2004, the move places Univera and Unigen right in the middle of the dynamic, vibrant and collaborative life science and biotech activities of neighboring South Lake Union.

“This week’s move to Seattle positions our natural health and wellness companies for tremendous growth and the opportunity to attract and interact with research and development talent that is second to none in the world,” said Bill Lee, chairman and CEO of ECONET, an investment holdings and parent company to Univera, Unigen and Aloecorp. “Our mission is to bring the best of nature to humankind. Joining Seattle’s life sciences and biotech community is an important step forward in our efforts to create and deliver the best natural health and wellness products.”

ECONET’s businesses include:

Univera: A world leader in natural products offering more than 50 life-changing, plant-derived nutritional products based on pharmaceutical standards. Bringing these life-changing products to market through a relationship marketing model, Univera provides vitality, prosperity, and purpose for nearly 100,000 people across North America (soon to be globally).

Unigen: With over 100 patents issued, pending or licensed, Unigen discovers, develops and manufactures proprietary natural-product active ingredients for dietary supplements, functional foods, cosmetic and personal care products, and prescription medical food and botanical drug products.

Aloecorp: The global farming operation of ECONET’s family of companies, Aloecorp is a leader of Aloe supply to the organization with a critical supply of quality natural materials. Aloecorp farming operations are located in Lyford, Texas, Gonzalez & Panuco, Mexico, and Hainan, China.

Based in Seoul, South Korea, ECONET’s global family of natural health and wellness companies employ more than 1,000 people worldwide. In addition to its global headquarters in Seoul and U.S. headquarters now in Seattle, ECONET has operations in Canada, China, Mexico and Russia.

The new headquarters at 3005 1st Avenue was purchased in 2010. The building, which includes both office and laboratory space was the headquarters of biotechnology company Dendreon until the end of 2011.

This year, the building has undergone a multi-million dollar renovation led by Seattle-based SABArchitects and BNBuilders. The new headquarters has more than 20,000 square feet of laboratory space, in addition to 50,000 square feet of office space for upwards of 200 employees. The space was renovated with natural materials, like the companies’ natural health and wellness products, and includes an in-house gym (“Wellness Center”).
