On March 9, 2012, the U.S.-China Health Products Association held its inaugural board meeting during Expo West / Engredea in Anaheim, California. The association was happy to have U.S. Department of Commerce representatives attend the meeting to discuss regulatory advocacy measures and business development activities for China. The membership used this opportunity to sketch out its plans and activities for 2012 and beyond. Members include such industry leaders as Derma-E, DSM, Green Foods, Jarrow Formulas, K-max, Lonza, New Hope Natural Media, NSF, TSI Group, Unigen and World Health Store.
The association has a close collaborative relationship with the U.S. Department of Commerce and its various agencies such as the U.S. Commercial Service (USCS) and the International Trade Administration (U.S. ITA). Shortly after Expo West / Engredea wrapped up, the association submitted an industry paper on China’s dietary supplement industry to U.S. ITA. The report highlights the association’s priority issues list for U.S. ITA to use in the upcoming “Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade” (JCCT) talks with China. The US-China JCCT was established in 1983 as a forum for high-level dialogue on bilateral trade issues and a vehicle for promoting commercial relations. The JCCT works to resolve problems affecting US companies and serves as an umbrella for trade events and World Trade Organization (WTO) technical assistance programs.
