Vitafoods, Finished Products Expo Set Attendance Marks

Vitafoods Europe and Finished Products Expo have succeeded in delivering their biggest events to-date. More than 6000 visitors passed through the doors of Vitafoods Europe, whilst over 2100 visited its sister show Finished Products Expo, up 5% and 7% on 2009 respectively, making the 2010 installment of the global nutraceutical event the most successful to-date.

This was reflected in the overall show size too. More than 500 exhibitors from over 50 countries across the world presented their products to a captive audience, and it was certainly worth it, as Angela Thijssen, Business Area Manager for Pont Europe explained: “The first day was excellent – we had an unprecedented number of visitors to our stand and a great spread of interest from different countries. The quality was fantastic and we are certainly welcoming the right ‘kind’ of people onto our booth.”

And it is exactly the ‘right kind’ of people that the organizer’s at Vitafoods Europe pride themselves on delivering. This year the caliber of visitors was higher than ever before, with senior-level representatives from some of the world’s leading food manufacturers taking to the floor to conduct serious business and discover the latest developments in the sector.

This year’s comprehensive educational program proved a real draw for visitors throughout the three-day event. The Vitafoods Discussion Forum on the final day provoked some thoughtful rhetoric about the EU Claims Regulation whilst the Supplier Seminar Theatre was packed with visitors keen to get a glimpse of the next innovation to hit the global marketplace.

Returning for the second successful year, VitaTrend, a joint initiative between Innova Market Insights and Vitafoods, highlighted central trends on nutraceuticals and functional foods in presentations indicating where we are headed in health and wellbeing. Equally popular was the New Products Zone, which showcased the latest products to hit the market in the last year.

Once again this year, the Vitafoods Conference succeeded in drawing many of the industry’s most senior level personnel to presentations by some of the most experienced and knowledgeable academics in the business. Conference organizers Leatherhead Food Research delivered an admirable educational program, adding a selection of hot new topics to the agenda including Diabetes, Personalized Nutrition, Reproductive Health and Diet and Immunity.

Exhibition Director, Chris Lee, commented: “We are absolutely delighted that Vitafoods Europe and Finished Products Expo have grown to be the biggest events in their history this year. Their consistent, year-on-year growth is testament to the strength of the industry and the growing market for functional food, drinks and nutraceuticals around Europe and indeed the world.

Our exhibitors were a mix of companies – big players as well as smaller niche companies – but importantly, all offering something innovative. Meanwhile, the visitors were naturally of an impressive caliber, keen to do serious business at the show, which for us is a real marker of success.”

However, the action wasn’t just confined to Vitafoods Europe, there was plenty going on at the event’s sister show, Finished Products Expo, to keep exhibitors and visitors busy. For the first time ever, the show had its own entrance and hall to give it greater autonomy and potential for growth going forward. The strategy worked, as the show welcomed over 2100 visitors (an increase of 7%) through the door to meet with over 100 exhibitors. Jan Erik Bruin, Business Development Director at Focus Care shared in the success:

“This is our first time exhibiting at Finished Products Expo and we had over 50 meetings in just one day! There are some really interesting prospects now in the pipeline and we are optimistic about what the rest of the event – and the months after – will bring.”

The Tasting Bar @ FPE was a constant hive of activity as visitors queued patiently for their chance to try the latest products from exhibitors. Six companies were successful in the hotly-anticipated Tasting Bar awards, voted for by visitors to the feature. Nordic Natural’s Omega -3 Gummy Worms, Nutribio’s Confectionary Protein bar: Meringue and Lemon Curd and VSI’s Fruit-Nut Bar all scooped the favorite functional food awards, whilst Creamy Creation’s Low Calorie Diet Meal Replacement Drinks: Orange and Mango and Probi AB’s Bravo Friscus and Proviva products were all successful in the favorite functional drinks categories.

Lee concluded: “Finished Products Expo is a real success story for us this year. The new layout has been received extremely well by exhibitors and visitors, paving the way for us to continue with our plans to expand the show and give it room to grow. We have received fantastic feedback from everyone involved in the event and look forward to delivering an even bigger installment in 2011.”

Indeed, plans are already underway for Vitafoods Europe and Finished Products Expo 2011, which will once again be held at Geneva Palexpo on 10-12 May 2011.
