Santa Barbara, CA – Vitamin Angels hosted its 2nd Annual League of Angels event on Thursday, March 8th, 2012 at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California in conjunction with the Natural Products Expo West.
The event invited attendees to step up to the plate in the fight against malnutrition and help Vitamin Angels, a 501c3 public charity, reach another 25 million children in 2012. Over 450 individuals and companies from the natural products and dietary supplements industries responded to the call making donations, pledges and pursuing cause-marketing partnerships with the organization.
“We have a solution to one of the world’s greatest problems, chronic malnutrition and vitamin deficiency,” said Howard Schiffer, President and Founder of Vitamin Angels. “Last year we reached almost 25 million children in 41 countries including the U.S., that would be 555 Angel Stadiums filled to capacity with children. I invite you to join Vitamin Angels’ dream team.”
Speaking on behalf of the Northeast Community Clinics, an LA-based organization and one of Vitamin Angels’ domestic grantees which has received nearly 1 million women’s and children’s multivitamins from Vitamin Angels, Board Chair, Melissa Robles said, “The partnership that we are blessed to have with the Vitamin Angels is a gift of health to the thousands of children that we serve.”
Dr. Shilpa Bhatte, an independent contractor for Vitamin Angels in India where the organization is reaching more than 1.5 million children, said in a recorded greeting, “These children deserve an equal opportunity, just like our children, to become what they aspire to be. I think we should give them a chance, don’t you?”
The Vitamin Angels event featured baseball-themed Vitamin Angels branded apparel, live music by Jared Lee, an excellent selection of food and drinks, a party photo booth and the opportunity to pitch in the Angel Stadium bullpen.
