Vuka LLC (http://www.vuka.com) has announced the selection of Cookies for Kids’ Cancer (http://www.cookiesforkidscancer.org) as the beneficiary of Vuka’s charitable giving program. For each bottle of Vuka sold, the company will donate a portion of the proceeds to Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, supporting their efforts to fund pediatric cancer research. Additionally, through Vuka’s Round-It-Up, Pay-It-Forward program, shoppers on the Vuka website are encouraged to round up to the nearest dollar, or add any additional amount, of which 100% of these proceeds are being paid forward to Cookies for Kids’ Cancer.
Cookies for Kids’ Cancer is not about one child or one type of pediatric cancer. It is about changing the facts of pediatric cancer for the better, forever. Cancer claims the lives of more children annually than any other disease—more than asthma, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis & AIDS combined. And there has not been a new drug developed specifically for pediatric cancer treatment in nearly 20 years. The unfortunate reality is that progress has all but stalled and survival rates trail behind most adult cancers. Breast cancer, for example, now has survival rates over 90%. Pediatric cancer is in desperate need of funding for research into new and innovative treatments and inevitably a cure.
“We have been personal supporters of Cookies for Kids' Cancer for several years, and in honor of Liam Witt, who lost his battle to pediatric cancer this January, we have decided to dedicate our corporate giving activities to Cookies for Kids' Cancer. It's an amazing organization, based on such a simple strategy: that we can find a cure for kids' cancer one cookie at a time. Vuka is dedicated to doing all we can to help,” said Alexia Bregman, CEO of Vuka.
