In the wake of controversy over ephedra, weight management and sports nutrition

WAYNE, N.J., October 20, 2003 – Nutratech, Inc. – a research-based nutraceutical ingredient supplier – has
entered into a flood of non-exclusive license agreements with marketers and manufacturers of diet and sports
nutrition products who have finally found the ideal thermogenic alternative to the controversial herb, ma huang
(ephedra). More and more of the nutritional industry’s leaders, such as Natrol/ProLab, Nature’s Bounty (NBTY),
Twin Labs and Optimum Nutrition are entering into such agreements with Nutratech in order to use the widely
respected and popular Advantra Z® trademark and/or patented claims of stimulating thermogenesis, reducing weight
loss, increasing lean muscle to total body mass, improving athletic performance and suppressing appetite on their
diet or sports nutrition product’s label and marketing material.

“After extensive investigation by our R&D team, Advantra Z® was the only legitimate Citrus aurantium ingredient
on the market that we felt comfortable putting into ProLab’s top-selling diet/fitness products, Naturally Lean Matrix
and Therma Pro Ephedra Free,” says Alan Roberts, Senior Product Development Manager. “We looked at other
generic Citrus aurantium ingredients on the market but none had the support like Advantra Z®,” he added. “Plus, we
get the added bonus of being able to utilize the patented claims on our label and marketing support material. This
gives us a marketing advantage over our competition that may be purchasing the generic Citrus aurantium, and
therefore, cannot legally make these claims. “

Unlike generic counterparts on the market, most of the research on Citrus aurantium has been conducted using
Advantra Z®, which utilizes optimal harvesting techniques and a proprietary extraction process to produce a truly
unique synergistic amine composition. This complete composition of five synergistic adrenergic amines:
synephrine, n-methyltyramine, hordenine, octopamine and tyramine is responsible for delivering the applications
protected by U.S. Patent Nos. 6,224,873; 6,316,499; 6,340,481; 6,340,482 and the positive results found in the

“In light of all the negative press surrounding ephedra over the past several years, Nutratech has been inundated with
requests for Advantra Z® by companies in the nutritional industry who are clamoring to find a replacement for this
controversial herb,” contends Bob Green, one of the principals of Nutratech. “With a lot of hard work, tremendous
investment in research and lack of credible competition, we are now able to afford manufacturers of diet and sports
nutrition products the opportunity to use the only true patented replacement for ephedra (ma huang) on the market
today,” he adds.

Nutratech, Inc. with headquarters in Wayne, NJ provides innovative, proprietary and patented nutraceutical
ingredients with efficacy claims that are supported by sound scientific research.
