BOULDER, Colo., Jan 20, 2005 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- The newly consolidated $1.2 billion consumer packaged goods organization, which boasts a strong stable of branded products, including Silk soymilk, Horizon Organic, International Delight coffee creamers, Land O' Lakes creamers, Hershey Milkshakes, Marie's dips and salad dressings and TofuTown tofu products, will be known as White Wave Foods, and will be located in Broomfield, Colorado. The newly named company was established when Dean Foods consolidated much of its branded business into one consumer packaged goods organization.
The name White Wave Foods will not be featured on any products, but will solely represent the company and its leadership position in the food industry. White Wave Foods was chosen for several compelling reasons. As a stand alone name, separate from the strong brands already present in the organization's portfolio, it draws upon the socially-responsible heritage for which White Wave Inc., Horizon Organic and Dean National Branded Group has stood.
In keeping with this proud history, the new company's top priority is to maintain its leadership position in the sustainable business arena while manufacturing and selling delicious food products in premium categories. By carrying forward the continuity and identity that already exists, the new company can focus on its premium products from an established position of strength.
"We believe the new name, White Wave Foods, will allow us to easily communicate to our consumers and customers that our organization will continue to manufacture and sell premium branded food products that are innovative, authentic and nutritious while leading the industry in purpose and socially- responsible values," said Steve Demos, president of the newly consolidated company.
In addition to its new name, the company also announces that the members of the White Wave Foods executive team have been selected.
"Our goal is to be the number one value-creating consumer packaged goods company in the country through leadership in sustainable business enterprises. I have no doubt the team we have assembled will accomplish this," said Demos. "Each of them brings a depth of talent and skills they acquired and honed at some of the world's leading consumer packaged goods organizations. I feel privileged to be a part of such an impressive and dynamic team."
Joining Demos are the following members of the White Wave Foods executive team:
-- Todd Beckman, who has been with White Wave Inc. since 2002, is leading
the organization's integration efforts as Senior Vice President of
Business Development. Prior to joining White Wave Inc., Beckman worked
in a variety of operational roles for Tetra Pak and brings more than 15
years of management experience in the food and consumer packaged goods
industry. He will be charged with managing consolidation activities as
the new organization merges three corporate environments into one.
-- Pat Calhoun, Co-founder of the original White Wave Inc., is staying on
as the new company's Senior Vice President of Finance, Accounting and
Information Technology. Calhoun filled many needs for White Wave Inc.,
from early days on the tofu line, to a stint in sales and finally found
her niche in 1980 in Finance. A natural foods industry founder,
Calhoun brings nearly 30 years of experience with her into this role.
-- Ramona Kent, who has been named Senior Vice President of Sales, joins
White Wave Foods from Orange Glo International where she served as that
company's Senior Vice President of Sales and oversaw the generation of
$300 million in revenue over two years. Prior to Orange Glo
International, Kent spent 18 years at Procter and Gamble and has also
worked for Johns Manville and Western Union.
-- Mike Keown is White Wave Foods' new Senior Vice President of Marketing
and Research and Development. Keown comes to the organization from
Dean National Branded Group where he served as president and almost
tripled the profitability in under a year while also engineering a
highly successful business model turnaround. Before joining Dean
Branded Group, Keown served as Vice President and General Manager for
the Shelf Stable Division of The Minute Maid Company. Keown has also
worked in various senior level sales and marketing positions for other
top brands including Procter and Gamble, and E&J Gallo Winery.
-- Scott Toth joins White Wave Foods as the company's Senior Vice
President of Operations from the Pepsi Bottling Group where he served
as Director of Operations for Northern California and the Pacific
Northwest, a $1.5 billion dollar business responsibility. Toth was
also responsible for opening PepsiCo's China division in 1997. Prior
to that he served in a variety of positions in both domestic and
international operations for PepsiCo and Procter and Gamble.
White Wave Foods will establish its headquarters in the Mountain View Corporate Center in Broomfield, CO.
"We wanted to find a building that was impressive, outside as well as in, to reflect the ambition and stature of our new company and what we are striving to become," Demos said. "It will not only provide a great work environment for our employees, but also help us attract top talent from the Denver Metro area."
The currently vacant four-story building, located at 12002 Airport Way in Broomfield, has spectacular views in all directions. It offers approximately 130,000 square feet of usable space, which will house almost 400 employees when the company moves in early summer 2005.
