Yum! Brands Names Baroudi as Chief Scientific, Health & Regulatory Affairs Officer; New Role Will Also Oversee Company-Wide Health and Nutrition Programs

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--July 24, 2003--Yum! Brands today announced the appointment of Dr. Al Baroudi, 55, to Chief Scientific, Health & Regulatory Affairs Officer, a newly created role dually reporting to Joaquin Pelaez, Yum! Brands Senior Vice President of Product Excellence, and Brian Riendeau, Vice President of Government and Community Affairs.
Baroudi has over thirty years of domestic and international experience in agriculture and manufacturing, working with consumer products companies, the retail food industry, governmental agencies and professional institutions. His experience spans research and development, food safety, quality assurance and microbiology.

Baroudi also founded the Food Safety Institute, International and served as President and Chief Quality Officer where he directed food research and development as well as quality assurance programs for corporations and government agencies. Prior to that, he served as the Vice President of Corporate Quality Assurance and Environmental Affairs for The Vons Companies, Inc., and for 15 years at Borden, Inc. in a variety of plant management, food safety and research and development capacities.

In his new role, Baroudi will oversee the strategic development and implementation of programs for scientific and regulatory trade for all of Yum! Brands worldwide. He will be a great resource for A&W All-American Food, KFC, Long John Silver's, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell brands. He will also support the implementation of health and nutrition programs around the globe, and the company's animal welfare initiatives.

Baroudi holds Ph.D., M.S., and B.S. degrees in Food Science and Processing, Technology, Microbiology and Agricultural Eningeering. Baroudi will be located in Louisville, Ky.
