Stauber named exclusive distributor of Stevia FSE

NOW Foods/Healthco's organic, enzyme-treated stevia has no bitter aftertaste, so no need for flavorings or masking agents.

Healthco, the ingredients division of NOW Foods, has named STAUBER, a distributor of raw materials to the nutritional, food, beverage, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and pet care industries, as the exclusive distributor for Stevia FSE™.

Stevia FSE, developed by NOW Foods/Healthco, is an organic, enzyme-treated stevia sweetener with zero calories and a low glycemic impact. With commonly used high Reb A stevias, bitter aftertaste has been a primary concern, for manufacturers and consumers alike. The proprietary enzymatic processing method utilized virtually eliminates any bitter aftertaste, thus no flavorings or masking agents (such as erythritol) are needed with Stevia FSE. This natural enzyme treatment enhances its organoleptic (sensory) properties. NOP Certified Organic, Kosher and Halal, Stevia FSE is 60 to 100 times sweeter than sugar (sucrose).

In June 2011 NOW Health Group was issued a “No Objection” letter from the Food and Drug Administration regarding the determination that STEVIA FSE is generally recognized as safe (GRAS). Utilizing the platform of “general purpose non-nutritive sweetener for foods and beverages,” GRAS status allows manufacturers to add Stevia FSE in a variety of foods and beverages ranging from baked goods to milk products, breakfast cereals, cheese, egg products, processed vegetables, soft candy, soups, snack foods, nonalcoholic beverages, imitation dairy products, hard candy, chewing gum, granulated sugar, and seasonings and flavors.
