Oat Tech, maker of OatSweet, a new nutritive sweetener made from oats, will return to exhibit at Engredea and Natural Products Expo in Anaheim, Calif., March 8 to 10. Engredea is the ingredients and supply chain arm of Natural Products Expo, the largest trade show for the natural and organic products industry, produced by Boulder, Colo.-based New Hope Natural Media. To answer attendee's questions about OatSweet, Oat Tech will present "OatSweet: A New Sweetener Solution," an informal booth talk and question-and-answer session with R&D expert Jeff Grogg of JPG Resources, at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 8, at booth 476.
Ideal for naturals: no fructose, no GMOs
Oat Tech officially launched OatSweet one year ago at Engredea and Natural Products Expo West, where Functional Ingredients magazine editors selected it as 2012's Best Ingredient for Food. In the ensuing year, consumers and food manufacturers have shown increasing interest in alternative sweeteners that offer solutions to health and flavor concerns of existing options. OatSweet is just such a sweetener solution; it contains no fructose or genetically modified organisms, is vegan, and is processed in the United States from North American-grown crops.
In addition, OatSweet is ideal for a wide range of applications; functionally similar to brown rice syrup, with comparable binding properties and texture, OatSweet syrup's delicious flavor profile contributes pleasant yet subtle caramel and honey notes with a clean finish. OatSweet offers manufacturers an exciting sweetener option with desirable characteristics at a competitive price.
"OatSweet is ideal for products aimed at the health-minded consumer who reads labels and cares about ingredients," says Oat Tech President Rick Williams. "We're very excited to be returning to Engredea and Natural Products Expo after a year of growth for our company and intense interest in alternative sweeteners, and to welcome our board member Jeff Grogg to talk about product formulation with OatSweet at our booth on Friday."
