Infographic: USDA Organic posts double-digit growth

Positioned next to non-GMO and "natural," USDA Organic may require more clarity in the marketplace, but recent data shows the certification is doing something right. Schaumberg, Ill.-based market research firm SPINS reports that organic products posted double-digit growth last year. Items with at least 70 percent organic content increased 13 percent across all retail channels, contributing to more than $11.2 billion in sales.

Natural products retailers did their part to support the boost. Data shows that more than 63 percent of packaged produce and 69 percent of milk sold in natural grocery is certified organic. Check out the infographic below for a closer look at the specific segments driving sales.
