Natural Remedies' GutGard™ Performs Well in Trial

Leading herbal dietary ingredient producer Natural Remedies has recently completed a clinical study on GutGard™ and pleased to announce the positive results. GutGard™ is a flavonoid rich, deglycyrrhizinated standardized extract of licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) recommended for gut health. Licorice is a well known Ayurvedic herb traditionally used in the treatment of various gut-related problems.

The double blind, randomized, placebo controlled study enrolled subjects with functional dyspepsia symptoms (upper abdominal fullness, upper abdominal pain, belching, bloating, early satiety, regurgitation, heartburn, loss of appetite etc.). Study subjects daily received either GutGard™ (75 mg twice daily) or placebo for 30 days. The individual and total scores of all symptoms (as measured by 7-point Likert scale) in GutGard™ treated group, after 15 and 30 days of treatment, were found to be significantly decreased when compared to placebo group. Similarly, GutGard™ treated group showed remarkable improvement in global assessment of efficacy and quality of life (as measured by short form Nepean Dyspepsia Index) in comparison to the placebo group. GutGard™ was found to be safe and well tolerated by all subjects.

“We are very excited about the clinical results,” says Dr Shivaprasad, Head – International Business of Natural Remedies. “For those marketers requiring the highest level of human research, we believe GutGard™ represents the “Gold Standard” among clinically proven gut health ingredients.”
