New York Times best-selling author and medical journalist Kowalski’s newest book gives consumers positive news about nutrac

In his new book now hitting store shelves, medical journalist and New York Times best-selling author Robert E. Kowalski gives consumers eager to lower their blood pressure some much-needed positive news about the benefits of several well-studied nutritional ingredients.

In his book, The Blood Pressure Cure: 8 Weeks to Lower Blood Pressure without Prescription Drugs (Wiley; May 2007; $24.95; Cloth; ISBN: 978-0-470-12416-1), Kowalski references some of the most significant, published clinical research on nutritional ingredients that have been shown to safely lower blood pressure. Some of the branded ingredients mentioned include Lyc-O-Mato tomato lycopene complex and MegaNatural-BP Grape Seed Extract, as well as sustained-release arginine and l-theanine.

Kowalski points out that many men and women whose doctors detect an elevated blood pressure would prefer to avoid taking the prescription drugs that are well known for their many potential side effects. "Doctors have been delighted with the alternative possibilities of these new supplements because they have been clinically proven to be both safe and effective," Kowalski says. "The results I’ve seen from readers sending me reports have been dramatic," the author notes, "often as good as would be expected from prescription drugs."

The book reassures consumers that innovation and cutting edge research is alive and well in the nutraceutical industry, and that there is significant scientific evidence showing that non-drug alternatives are clinically proven, safe and effective.

Kowalski’s The 8 Week Cholesterol Cure was number one on the New York Times bestselling list, and is credited with teaching the American public about the cholesterol-lowering benefits of oat bran and niacin, and about the importance of having their cholesterol checked.
