Study Confirms Mango-xan has Higher Concentrations of Alpha-Mangostin Than Other Mangosteen Juices

AMERICAN FORK, Utah, March 29, 2007 - Mango-xan(R) Antioxidant Recovery Formula from Pure Fruit Technologies contains the highest levels of alpha-mangostin compared to other mangosteen juice supplements on the market according to a recently completed study entitled "A survey of alpha-mangostin content of commercial mangosteen beverages." The study results were presented at the American Chemical Society's 233rd National Meeting and Exposition held March 25 – 29, 2007 in Chicago, IL. The mangosteen fruit contains more than 40 different types of xanthones, a unique class of powerful antioxidants of which alpha-mangostin is considered the most active and widely studied for its health benefits.

"Our mission at Pure Fruit Technologies is to create the most potent exotic juice supplements available on the market, and these results confirm that Mango-xan hits that mark by delivering more antioxidants than its competitors," stated Wayne Geilman, Ph.D., senior research scientist, Pure Fruit Technologies. "The study also reveals that the key antioxidants found in the mangosteen fruit and pericarp are retained during the formulation and processing of Mango-xan."
The study looked at several leading beverages containing mangosteen pericarp and pericarp extracts to determine the range of xanthone concentrations, as measured by alpha-mangostin content. A high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis of Mango-xan revealed a concentration of 266 mcg (micrograms) alpha-mangostin/mL. Several other mangosteen juices contained alpha-mangostin in the ranges of 10 to 238 mcg/mL, and in one brand no alpha-mangostin could be detected.

"Not all mangosteen juice supplements are created equal, however, consumers can feel confident when purchasing Mango-xan that they are not only receiving the most powerful mangosteen juice supplement available, but one that taste great as well," added Dave Boyd, director of global operations, Pure Fruit Technologies.
