AppleActiv presents new bowel health research at SSW

Company will sponsor a VendorBrief presentation, “Potential Benefits of Dried Apple Peel Powder for the GI System: Implications in Human Health.”

AppleActiv™, a new ingredient made from dried organic apple peels, will be sponsoring a VendorBrief presentation at SupplySide West called “Potential Benefits of Dried Apple Peel Powder for the GI System: Implications in Human Health.”

Presented Emile Levy, M.D., Ph.D., professor of nutrition, University of Montreal, scientific director, gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition unit, CHU Sainte-Justine, Mother-Child University Hospital Centre, the presentation will take place Thursday, Nov. 14 from 2 to 2:20 p.m. at Booth # 14074.  The presentation is free to all SupplySide West attendees.

Dr. Levy will present new research suggesting that polyphenols extracted from apple peels (DAPP) may not only offset oxidative stress and inflammation, but also may protect the intestinal barrier against various aggressive factors. Experiments on intestinal cells have validated this assumption, suggesting consumption of DAPP may play preventive and therapeutic roles in bowel health.
