Cactus Botanics Smoothes Things Out With Launch of Ceramide

SHANGHAI, CHINA– Responding to a paradigm shift of how consumers choose to nourish their skin and look younger, Cactus Botanics has launched its raw material Ceramide for use the continuously burgeoning and exciting cosmeceuticals industry. The cosmeceuticals supplement market is estimated to be worth presently between $14 and $20 billion, and exhibits an annual growth rate of between 8 and 12 percent.

Ceramides are a family of lipid molecules comprised of sphinghosine and fatty acids, and they are concentrated in cell membranes. Ceramides along with other lipids comprise sphingomyelin, one of the major lipids in the lipid bilayer. Supplementing with ceramide helps nourish and keep pliant the lipid bilayer of skin cells, resulting in a more youthful and “dewy” appearance. As facial skin ages, dwindling lipids cause cells to dry and deflate, exacerbating the aged skin look.

Ceramides have been found to activate several biological functions relating to cell signaling and are known to trigger apoptosis, which maintains tissue homeostasis. The failure of cells to engage in apoptosis can cause numerous and dramatic health conditions.

“The desire among consumers to look young, fresh and appealing for as long as possible is driving the cosmeceutical category,” observes Michelle Banks, director of U.S. operations of Cactus Botanics. “Even though cosmetic surgery numbers are up, more women would much rather try to defend visible signs of skin aging with cosmeceutical supplements and topicals. This is where Ceramide can help give women great confidence in achieving smooth, more youthful-appearing – and healthy -- skin.”

Cactus Botanics' Ceramide is manufactured in a pharmaceutical-grade facility and undergoes a rigorous Quality Assurance testing protocol to ensure its purity and safety.

Cactus Botanics is a true global supplier: it has manufacturing facilities mainly located in China.
