- Early-Bird Registration Deadline approaching -
Toronto, Canada, February, 11, 2008 - The Natural Health Product Research Society of Canada (NHPRS) is issuing a reminder that the deadline for early-bird registration for its 5th Annual Research Conference and Tradeshow 'Science Across Borders, Global Natural Health Products Research' will end Monday February 25th 2008.
The conference, to be held March 26-29, 2008, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, at the Downtown Marriott Eaton's Centre, features keynote addresses from the world's leading natural health product (NHP) experts and the latest research advances peer-selected from a global call for papers.
Registration information is available at: http://www.nhprs.ca/Events/Register/tabid/84/Default.aspx
This annual conference is the premiere NHP scientific event in North America, showcasing the year’s best original research and providing a critically needed forum for dialogue amongst NHP research stakeholders. The high quality program has drawn strong support from the bio-medical community and industry leaders dedicated to evidence-based products. The core audience of scientists from academia, industry and government, will be joined by a diversity of companies, health professionals, and regulators involved or interested in NHP research, products, and services.
“This is a unique opportunity for industry to see, firsthand, evidence-based new concepts and the proposition underlying them that will prove paramount for the innovation of new product development and integration of natural health products into a multidisciplinary healthcare and health promotion model," explains NHPRS President and conference Co-Chair Dr. Vlad Vuksan (University of Toronto).
The program (http://www.nhprs.ca/tabid/82/Default.aspx ) begins by presenting natural health products around the world, moving through traditional knowledge and modern practice and concluding on Saturday March 29th with Science Across Borders. Special presenters include luminaries such as Norman Farnsworth, (University of Illinois at Chicago, USA), Mark Blumenthal (American Botanical Council, USA), Michael Balick (Institute of Economic Botany, New York Botanical Garden, USA), Alex Richardson (University of Oxford Dept of Physiology, UK), Rosario Rojas (Cayetano Heredia University, Lima, Peru), Roberta Lee (Beth Israel’s Continuum Center for Health and Healing (CCHH), USA), and M. J. Nanjen (JSS College of Pharmacy, Ootacamund , India). Special events associated with the conference include a gala dinner and exhibition hall.
"I have attended hundreds of conferences in the natural products industry and regard the NHPRS annual conference to be a must-attend event," observes Loren Israelsen, Executive Director, Utah Natural Products Alliance (UNPA) "The relevance and quality of presentations are almost without peer. There is no other venue where so many government, academic, agricultural and industry experts come together to exchange news and envision a better, more practical world for natural health products -- and the food is always terrific."
The 2008 conference is again supported by Canada’s federal health agency, Health Canada, the U.S. Office of Dietary Supplements, and leading companies committed to NHP research.

The mission of the Natural Health Products Research Society (NHPRS) is to facilitate and support meaningful and scientifically rigorous research that will best enable the informed and appropriate use of natural health products that are safe, efficacious, and of high quality.
One of the key components of our mission includes, therefore, the delivery of continuing education in the science of NHPs. The NHPRS' volunteer board of directors has worked hard to earn its international reputation for developing high quality scientific educational programs for researchers, government regulatory agencies, NGOs and industry.
