DSM Stages Innovation Extravaganza At IFT 2006

DSM Food Specialties will highlight a show-stopping selection of its innovative ingredients at IFT 2006. Products from the Savoury, Dairy and Functional Food Ingredient business units will feature on the booth, as well as the latest successes from Functional Drinks.

Savour the flavour
Savoury Ingredients will introduce innovations such as Maxarome® Select, a high nucleotide specialty yeast extract. The clean taste and low usage level is ideal for the maximum natural enhancement and minimal flavor contribution, required in lightly flavored systems such as low salt potato chips, vegetable and fish entrées,
side-dishes, dressings and dips. Maxarome Select allows for sodium reductions from 40% to 60%.

Savoury Ingredients will also demonstrate the latest clean label additions to their non-animal derived meat flavor portfolio based on the purest yeast extracts. Visitors to the booth can see examples of Savoury Ingredients’ products in application to demonstrate clean taste enhancement, salt reduction and flavor impact.

Dairy delights
Ingredients using the concept of satiety to help consumers manage their calories are forecast to become the latest trend in healthy eating. Fabuless, DSM’s breakthrough weight management ingredient, is therefore expected to generate significant interest on the booth.

Fabuless is a new ingredient that triggers the natural appetite control mechanism in order to reduce calorie intake. Designed specifically for use in dairy products, Fabuless offers manufacturers the potential to add value while improving mouthfeel and texture. DSM will offer visitors to the booth the chance to sample recent end product successes, including the new ‘Adagio’ range of shot-sized drinking yogurts. By drinking these, consumers can achieve their weight management goals more easily.

With awareness of gastro-intestinal health and its importance for overall well-being on the increase in North America, LAFTI® probiotics will be a highlight for dairy manufacturers at the show. The LAFTI range offers scientifically proven health benefits to support a healthy digestive system and the body’s natural defences.

In addition, a number of exciting product innovations will be on show from the Dairy Ingredients business unit including coagulants, starter cultures, preservation systems and antibiotic residue tests ideal for use in a broad range of applications.

Peptide perfection
Also on the booth will be the award winning protein hydrolysate from DSM Food Specialties, PeptoPro®. PeptoPro allows beverage manufacturers to offer consumers di- and tri-peptides in a water soluble, neutral tasting form. When used in sports drinks, PeptoPro can help replenish muscle energy reserves and protect muscle tissue. Recent product launches containing the performance peptide will be on display. These include the successful MultiPower, Sportex and C&C products in Europe and the powders launched in the US.

Representatives from DSM Food Specialties will be available on booth 2015 provide technical expertise and discuss a wide range of ingredient solutions.
