NEXT Trends 2020 series: In an effort to help support retailers and brands, we will be publishing regular brand features for the next few weeks. Brands are selected from those that registered to exhibit at Natural Products Expo West 2020 and were curated as great examples of one of 50 trends New Hope Network is monitoring in the marketplace.

These trends are part of New Hope Network's NEXT Expo Guidebook and trend hierarchy

Today, we look at five protein-packed companies that are innovating in the "More Protein Please" trend within the Protein Power macro force. There has been no standard protein limit shoppers follow, and in a carb-wary world, consumers are keen for opportunities to incorporate protein in lieu of carbs and sugar.

Quevos, Yooli Foods, Trident Seafood

1. Quevos

What is it? Quevos are egg white-based chips.

Innovation: Egg whites, inulin, ghee and other ingredients combine to give this chip 5 g of protein and fiber with16 g carbohydrates.

2. Yooli Foods

What is it? Yooli Farmer's Cheese bars and cremes are healthy alternatives to traditional snacks and are made with artisan farmer's cheese and other natural ingredients to create sweet snacks for yogurt lovers, the health conscious and those on the go.

Innovation: Yooli Farmer's Cheese cups come in a variety of velvety textures and delicious flavors including Vanilla, Strawberry and Honey and Lemon Zest. With 18 grams of protein per serving, these bars and cups are satisfying consumers demand for more protein, please!

3. Trident Seafood Corp.

What is it? Trident is an Alaskan seafood company that practices responsible seafood practices. It sells traditional formats of wild Alaska pollock and salmon, as well as some innovative formats.

Innovation: Made from wild Alaska pollock, Trident offers fully cooked noodles that are a high-protein, flavor-neutral alternative to high-carb noodles.

4. Re:Think

What is it? Created in Napa Valley, California, Re:Think is a healthier ice cream that is made with all-natural ingredients. It is keto-friendly and diabetic-friendly with no sugar alcohol.

Innovation: Made mostly from milk, cream and whey protein isolate, this ice cream boasts “indulgence with benefits” that includes few carbohydrates, lots of protein and all natural ingredients. 

5. Magic Spoon 

What is it? Magic Spoon is a high-protein, low-carb cereal that tastes like familiar childhood cereals, but without sugar or “junk.”

Innovation: These nostalgia-based cereals are made from a protein blend and sweetened with monkfruit.
