Members of dietary supplement industry are urged to attend
Sarasota, Florida – March 14, 2007- The Dietary Supplement Education Alliance (DSEA) is presenting an educational session and luncheon for Senators, Representatives and their staff on Tuesday, March 27 at 12:00 noon in Rayburn House Office Building Room B-369. The topic of the luncheon is “Nutritional Supplements: Improving Lives, Saving Health Care Dollars.” The key speaker will be Dr. Joan DaVanzo of The Lewin Group, who will present highlights of two DSEA-funded studies on the health benefits and cost savings related to dietary supplements.
DSEA has planned this event as part of the ongoing effort to educate legislators and their staff on the benefits of supplements. Other featured speakers will be Dr. Steven Dentali, from the American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) and Dr. Daniel Fabricant, from the Natural Products Association. All members of the dietary supplement industry are urged to attend this event to mingle with policy-makers on Capitol Hill and hear about DSEA initiatives. “With all of the new members in Congress and all of their new staff, providing science-based information on the value of supplements is very important right now,” said Jon Benninger, DSEA president.
DSEA is a coalition of industry leaders whose mission is to educate consumers, media and policymakers on the benefits of dietary supplements for optimizing health and prevention of disease, with a focus on their safety, efficacy and regulation.
