Natural dental care

Dental care is the maintenance of healthy teeth and gums by brushing, flossing, and rinsing to eliminate plaque and harmful bacteria that can lead to tooth decay, cavities, bad breath, and gum disease. Bacteria associated with unhealthy teeth and gums also can travel to other parts of the body, contributing to illnesses such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes, autoimmune disorders, ulcers, premature birth, and even some cancers. Products used for dental care are floss, mouthwash, toothpaste, tongue scrapers, gum, and mints. Conventional dental products commonly contain synthetic detergents, moisturizers, sweeteners, dyes, and preservatives that can hurt teeth and gums. These often abrasive ingredients include sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), alcohol, saccharin, and sugar. Natural oral care ingredients include baking soda, xylitol, neem, silica, aloe, and vitamins A, C, and E.
