No bones about it: It's magnesium
According to a Reuters Health article citing research published in The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, researchers randomized 44 girls aged 8 to 14 (with intakes of the mineral that were below 220mg/ day) to take 300mg/day magnesium or placebo for one year, determining that girls given magnesium showed significantly greater bone mineral content in the hip than those who took the placebo.
