Recent FDA and FTC regulatory actions in the supplements sphere

The Food and Drug Administration continues to take strong regulatory action in the supplement sector since the final implementation of Good Manufacturing Practices in 2010. As part of New Hope's committment to keeping readers up-to-date on these important regulatory developments, newhope360 will continue to collect and publish news on the FDA's latest actions.

Once again, this batch of offenders are concentrated in the weight loss and sexual enhancement categories, both areas the FDA is clearly watching closely. Ingredient adulteration continues to make up the majority of offenses. The Federal Trade Commission is also coming down on companies in the diet and weight-loss categories for unproven and deceiving advertising claims.

Additional information on food, supplement and OTC recalls can be found at the FDA's website, which also includes information about tainted supplement notifications
