Nutraceuticals-label specialist
Labeltronix in Orange, California, has selected cofounder Dan Blair as nutraceuticals-label specialist. For 20 years, Blair has developed successful label solutions and marketing strategies. In his new position, he works closely with customers to develop custom label solutions using either digital or flexographic printing technologies.

A sweet new building in Canada
BioNeutra, a leading biotech/functional-foods and ingredients company, has begun construction of a $6 million facility in Edmonton Research Park in Alberta, which will house the company's corporate headquarters, research activities, lab and pilot-scale manufacturing plant. The phase-one, 26,000-square-foot building will be constructed on a four-acre parcel of leased land. When phase two is completed, the BioNeutra Centre will exceed 50,000 square feet, and will house a state-of-the-art research and development facility.

Naturex's French plantNaturex facility gains certification
Naturex's French plant has been audited by Bureau Veritas and received ISO 14001 certification. The plant has also earned the ISO 9001 certification. A member of the United Nations Global Compact, Naturex remains dedicated to environmentally responsible corporate citizenship.

Probiotics fruit range
Probi has signed a license agreement with NextFoods for the American market regarding launch of a functional-foods product containing Probi's probiotics. The organic fruit-juice range will be launched as shots, with substantial investments in marketing during the spring of 2008. Probi is guaranteed a royalty of $1.5 million in 2008-2009.

Martha HaasFresh hires at NutraGenesis
Diversified bulk branded nutraceutical provider Nutra-Genesis has hired Dr Bruce Abedon as its new director of scientific affairs. He received his master's and PhD in plant genetics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The company has also hired Martha Haas as a sales and marketing representative. She will be involved in NutraGenesis' product segments that include nutraceuticals and speciality food ingredients.

NGHP distribution agreement
AM Todd Botanical Therapeutics (AMTBT) is now the exclusive North American agent for all products manufactured by Ningbo Green-Health Pharmaceutical (NGHP), a Chinese manufacturer of botanical extracts, nutritional supplement ingredients and pharmaceuticals. Earlier this year, AMTBT's production was transferred to the NGHP facility.

Stan McCarthyNew leadership at Kerry Group
Stan McCarthy has been appointed chief executive designate for Kerry Group in Tralee, Ireland, effective Jan 1. McCarthy has served as Kerry Americas president since 1996. Replacing him as president will be Gerry Behan, who will be responsible for leading the company's ingredient businesses in Canada, the US and Latin America.

Integrity names new lab manager
Integrity has named Collin Thomas its laboratory manager. Most recently, he served as laboratory supervisor at Piedmont Laboratories. He has also worked for Cardinal Health and Catalytica Pharmaceuticals.

Kemin names European director
Pedro Vieira has been promoted to managing director Europe at Kemin Health. He is assuming the responsibilities previously held by Carlos Fiadeiro, who moved to Brazil to take the position of president of Kemin South America. Vieira joined Kemin Health in 2000 as national accounts manager. Most recently he was the marketing manager for Kemin Health, Europe.
