Dietary Supplement Executives Launch a Business Dedicated To Helping Dietary Supplement Companies Establish a Presence in Asia

June 20, 2006 – Westport, CT – Two dietary supplement executives announce the launch of Nutra Services International LLC, a service business formed to help dietary supplement companies enter or improve sales performance in Asian markets. Nutra Services International LLC will initially offer this service in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Indonesia.

Ken Roffe, Nutra Services’ Chief Executive Officer, and Steve Hanson, the company’s consulting partner, have backgrounds which include the international launch and management of two of the industry’s most highly regarded brands – Zila’s Ester-C® and Kemin’s FloraGLO® Lutein. Roffe notes that not only do “we have the expertise to initiate a presence in Asia or improve performance of a current business, but we will personally manage our clients’ businesses through our in-market presence.”

Hanson comments that “with our service a company can now capitalize, in the short-term, on the international opportunity to grow revenue. Our in-market management commitment allows companies with a desire to expand their sales activities into Asia – and some of the largest dietary supplement markets in the world – to do so without setting up their own international infrastructure.”

Nutra Services International LLC’s service will be tailored to each client’s need, including market structure studies of specific categories, identification, development and implementation of any needed regulatory approval process, creation of partner or distributor selection criteria and selected partner management, and creating and monitoring sales and marketing plans.

Roffe is an experienced general manager in multiple industries, an entrepreneur, a skilled creator of new revenue streams and a recognized leader in the field of business development. He operated as General Manager of the Nutraceuticals division of Zila, Inc., developed and managed a four company strategic alliance in Europe for Scott Paper Company, Rubbermaid, 3M and Duni and served in interim management assignments across an array of operating responsibilities, in both the United States and in International markets. Additionally, Roffe has significant new product development experience serving as a past President of the Product Development and Management Association along with revitalizing Lowe Marschalk’s New Product Development Group.

Hanson has operated his own consulting practice since 2003 where he has supported dietary supplement and ingredient companies. Prior to this, Hanson had been Vice President of Marketing for Kemin Health, manufacturer of FloraGLO Lutein, where he helped lead the ingredient into several International markets. Building on this experience, Hanson also helped Zila Nutraceuticals, makers of Ester-C, grow its International presence along with its sales. Hanson has spoken at numerous industry conferences including Nutracon and the CRN Annual Conference.
