Emerald Performance Materials relocates Asia Pacific office

Emerald Performance Materials announced that it has relocated its regional sales office serving the Asia Pacific region to a new location in Hong Kong. The relocation is expected to help support the company’s growth plans in the region. The company manufactures a wide range of performance resins and additives for food and beverage and industrial applications such as electronics, plastics, composites, adhesives and coatings. These products are sold through regional distribution partners throughout Asia.

Emerald Hong Kong serves as a customer service and commercial development office responsible for the growth of targeted product lines in Asia. The technical support team works in tandem with customers and distributors in the region to identify new opportunities and drive them through to commercialization. The staff also provides necessary service support, including coordination of supply chain and logistics for Emerald’s four business groups.

The relocation follows a number of significant changes and additions at Emerald Hong Kong over the past 12 months. In 2012, the company invested in additional resources to support growing demand in Asia for two of Emerald’s business groups: CVC Thermoset Specialties and Emerald Kalama Chemical.

Key products from CVC Thermoset Specialties include EPALLOY™ specialty epoxy resins and polybutadiene-based Hypro™ reactive liquid polymers, such as CTBNs, HTPB and other modifiers. These specialty materials provide a range of benefits over traditional epoxy resins and unmodified thermoset systems, including increased toughness and impact resistance, low temperature flexibility, chemical resistance, and adhesion to oily substrates. As a result of their superior performance, these materials have increasingly become a preferred alternative to mechanical fasteners used in structural adhesives and are viewed as a light-weight replacement for steel in composites and in potting compounds and PCBs.

Emerald Kalama Chemical is expanding its offering of K-FLEX® products in Asia based on growing demand. The K-FLEX® product line based on benzoic acid esters is a key growth platform for the company and provides phthalate-free plasticizers and coalescents while leveraging Kalama’s world leading benzoic acid production. These materials provide an excellent, environmentally friendly alternative to traditional phthalates and high-VOC coalescents as they are non-SVHC and biodegradable. More importantly, these products can out-perform many traditional materials.  In coatings, adhesives, sealants, graphic arts and PVC, for example, the use of K-FLEX products offers many benefits, such as excellent MFFT suppression, improved toughness, scrub resistance, stain resistance, and enhanced resistance of the dried film to water, grease and oil. The K-FLEX products are compatible in a wide range of polymer systems such as PVC, plastisols, acrylic, vinyl acetate and EVA, to name just a few. Kalama is already well known in Asia for its established PUROX® and Kalama® brands of benzoate preservatives for food and beverage, wide range of aroma chemicals used in flavors and fragrances, as well as fine chemical intermediates.

Emerald Hong Kong is now located at 1708 Shui On Centre, 6-8 Harbour Road, in Wanchai.  The new phone number is 852-2598-7990.
