Health Canada has announced the release of new documents to their website which pertain to the Natural Health Products industry.
The Natural Health Products Regulatory (Final Report) offers an online consultation source for Canadian Natural Health Products regulatory review.
The Fact Sheet deals with the need to regulate NHPs proportional to risk and the need to address the current product licence application backlog. Health Canada's Natural Health Products Directorate (NHPD) has developed a new Risk-Based Approach (RBA) to the regulation of NHPs. The RBA is intended to refine the NHP regulatory system to account for the unique risk profile of NHPs, while at the same time addressing the majority of the more specific issues raised during the consultation.
The S.T.E.P.S Plan is Health Canada's Natural Health Products Directorate's (NHPD) multi-pronged strategic plan for addressing the current product licence application backlog by March 31, 2010 and achieving a normal workload environment for the assessment and licensing of natural health products (NHPs).
