Combined Quick-Release/Sustained Release System to Improve ALA Assimilation
Los Angeles, CA, April 3, 2007 – Los Angeles-based Jarrow Formulas® today has unveiled ALA Sustain 300™ featuring a bilayer quick release/sustained release format to maximize blood levels and to minimize gastric irritation and blood sugar fluctuations.
Jarrow Formula's “upformulated” Alpha Lipoic Sustain 300™ delivers 100 mg of fast-release ALA (with 111 mcg Biotin), and 200 mg of sustained-release ALA (with 222 mcg Biotin). The sustained-release portion of the tablet is based on the same controlled release matrix that was used in the previous version of Alpha Lipoic Sustain 300™.
Alpha Lipoic Acid is a unique lipid and water soluble antioxidant that is a cofactor in energy production, helping to regulate glucose metabolism. ALA also promotes the synthesis of glutathione. Biotin is added for optimum ALA activity.
“This new delivery system has been designed to quickly raise plasma ALA levels, while maintaining an elevated ALA level over a sustained period of time,” says Kevin Connolly, Ph.D, Director of Scientific Affairs and Product Development at Jarrow Formulas.
