Boulder Ice Cream of Boulder, Colo., moved to a new facility in east Boulder, which is 100-percent wind powered and heated by its production equipment. It is set up for organic certification and has the ability to expand production to support recent distribution expansion to the East Coast. The facility will soon be open for tours and tastings. The company appointed Mark Retzloff, co-founder of Horizon Organic Dairy, to the board of directors.
Eagan, Minn.-based Biothera announced in December that its dietary supplement and functional food ingredients are the first yeast beta glucans to be generally recognized as safe under the provisions of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. An independent panel of medical and toxicology experts determined the ingredients meet the requirement for self-affirmed GRAS status.

Richmond, British Columbia, Canada's Nature's Path Foods will be the title sponsor for the second year in a row of the Whidbey Island Marathon and Half Marathon Sunday, April 15. Nature's Path will put photos of the first-place male and female full marathon winners on the back of 4.5 million of the company's Optimum ReBound cereal boxes. Event organizers expect around 3,000 participants.
