NBTY wins Stevie Award

NBTY, a manufacturer and distributor of some of the most trusted brands in the vitamin and nutritional supplement industry, announced that it received a Bronze award in The American Business Awards (also known as the Stevie Awards) for Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year.

NBTY, including its global brands Nature’s Bounty, Sundown Naturals, Solgar, MET-Rx and Pure Protein, and NBTY Helping Hands, its 501(c)(3) charitable foundation, is dedicated to promoting wellness through giving.  NBTY’s multifaceted approach to giving, which includes monetary, in-kind and other product donations, is vast and far reaching. During the 2013 award period, NBTY donated more than $7 million in vitamins, nutrition bars, supplements and funding to more than 30 organizations that support families in need, veterans, children, victims of natural disasters, rescue and relief crews, and others. The company assists both domestic and international organizations.

“Giving back is a way to do good and feel good at the same time, and that is important to NBTY and our Associates,” said Jeff Nagel, CEO of NBTY. “NBTY’s commitment to wellness extends to our efforts to help others be well, by funding important programs or providing them with life-saving vitamins, and we’re honored to receive this recognition.”

“It’s an honor for us to recognize and celebrate such an outstanding class of organizations and individuals,” said Michael Gallagher, president and founder of the Stevie Awards. “The judges were especially discerning this year. All of this year’s Gold, Silver and Bronze Stevie winners should be proud that the judges recognized their achievements and their ability to express those achievements in a way that captured the judges’ hearts and imaginations.”
