By the numbers: gut health products

From just $400 million in 2000, natural-channel sales of gut health–promoting foods and supplements tripled in the past decade, according to Nutrition Business Journal. Experts suspect that increasing consumer awareness of probotics’ benefits led to 9 percent growth for the category between 2009 and 2010.
