Houlihan Lokey advises Santa Cruz Nutritionals sale

Houlihan Lokey is pleased to announce the completion of the sale of Santa Cruz Nutritionals (SCN), a portfolio company of Levine Leichtman Capital Partners, to RoundTable Healthcare Partners. The transaction closed on July 29, 2013.

Houlihan Lokey served as the lead financial advisor to SCN and assisted in structuring and negotiating the transaction on their behalf. This deal represents another successful transaction for Houlihan Lokey in the Consumer Health industry.

SCN, based in Santa Cruz, Calif., is a leading innovator and manufacturer of gummy-based vitamins, minerals, supplements (VMS), and other nutritional products for consumers of all ages. The company pioneered the gummy VMS category with the launch of the first commercially viable gummy multivitamin for children in 1998 and has developed over 250 formulations and brought over 50 new products to market each year since 2009. SCN has maintained its market-leading position due to its unique status as one of only two domestic FDA Good Manufacturing Practice-compliant gummy VMS manufacturers. SCN is the only gummy manufacturer selling to large, branded VMS marketers as well as leading food, drug, and mass merchandise (FDM) retailers.

Levine Leichtman Capital Partners (LLCP) is a Los Angeles, Calif.-based investment firm that manages approximately $6.5 billion of institutional investment capital through private equity partnerships, distressed debt, and leveraged loan funds.
