Aubrey Organics

Company History
More than 30 years ago, while living in New York City, Aubrey Hampton began experimenting with two natural formulations: an all-herbal bath oil and a protein-based hair conditioner. Using skills he learned from his mother, an herbalist who made natural products for her family with homegrown herbs, Aubrey fine-tuned his formulas and tested them in Manhattan hair salons and health food stores to excellent reviews.

In 1967, he founded Aubrey Nature Labs, the company that was to become Aubrey Organics. His premise was a simple one—to create completely natural hair- and skin-care products that are free of synthetics and petrochemicals and safe for both the body and the environment. Today, Aubrey Organics is sold by thousands of natural products retailers throughout the United States and around the world, and Aubrey's pioneering company remains one of the most respected and reliable manufacturers of natural body-care products in the industry.

Hampton has written three books about natural cosmetics: , (Organica Press), now in its fifth reprint; What's In Your Cosmetics? (Odonian Press); and his newest title, The Take Charge Beauty Book (Organica Press), co-written with Susan Hussey.

Corporate Mission
Aubrey Organics believes in making products good for both the body and the environment. The company uses 100 percent natural ingredients in all its formulas, even though these ingredients are more expensive, harder to work with and more difficult to obtain. Customers will never find synthetic chemicals in any of the company's products. Aubrey Organics uses liquid coconut and corn oil in soaps and shampoos, coconut fatty acids and essential fatty acids in its creams and lotions, and a natural preservative of citrus seed extract and vitamins A, C and E.

All products are formulated by Aubrey Hampton, Ph.D., internationally recognized organic chemist, author, founder and chief executive of the company. Aubrey products are packaged in recyclable plastic (HDPE) bottles and shipped in recyclable cardboard boxes, and promotional materials are printed on recycled paper. Aubrey Organics has never tested on animals, nor does it accept animal-testing data to determine the safety or effectiveness of a product or ingredient.
