Expo goes green

The Anaheim Convention Center will be a shade greener for the March 8-11 Natural Products Expo West. Influenced by his previous work with New Hope Natural Media, publisher of The Natural Foods Merchandiser, Jim Tripp, general manager for Aramark Conventions and Cultural Attractions at the ACC, made sustainability a high priority for all conventions this year. Supported by the mayor and city of Anaheim, Calif., Tripp began buying local and organic foods whenever possible, as well as environmentally friendly foodservice products and nontoxic cleaners.

The Environmental Protection Agency, which is writing guidelines for green convention centers, also suggested implementing a comprehensive recycling program.
