First-timer’s Guide to Expo West

Are you a newcomer to Natural Products Expo West? We asked veteran Expo staff to share their recommendations for getting the most out of your first Expo.

Scott Sherpe, marketing manager
Plan your show before you arrive in Anaheim by using the Online Buyers’ Guide and Show Directory (expowest.com/directory), where you can access event information and learn more about 2010 exhibitors, education and events. Or use our new mobile platform, ChirpE, at expowest.com/mobile.

Dove Weissman, conference manager
Manufacturers of new products should attend Thursday’s Expo West Business Program, which provides in-depth advice on branding, marketing and labeling, as well as information about industry trends, distribution and financing. Retailers shouldn’t miss Saturday afternoon’s Retailer Tool Box session (3 to 6 p.m.), covering the seven traits of a perfect natural products store.

Celeste Warf, operations manager
Don’t be afraid to utilize the floor managers available at various booths around the show, identifiable by their New Hope Natural Media name tags. They can help you with myriad issues, from questions about an exhibitor to locating special events.

Adam Andersen, show manager
On Friday morning, hit the Better Breakfast at the Marriott; it’s the best free event of the show. When on the show floor, wear comfortable shoes and clothes for this business-casual (emphasis on casual) environment. Don’t mix too many foods, and drink plenty of water. And finally, be sure to visit Hall E, which features new companies and products, and opens early at 9:30 a.m.
