Natural foods stores get all of the attention for their growth plans. But Boulder, Colorado-based Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy is one to watch.

"Just like Whole Foods transformed food retailing 25 years ago, Pharmaca will transform pharmacy in the next 10 years," said Laura Coblentz, Pharmaca’s vice president of marketing and innovation.

The 25-store independent chain plans to grow to 50 locations in the next three years.

There's no magic in the timing, just a practical alignment of factors, according to Coblentz, who said the company has proven its model, has the financial standing and is ready to ride the wave of the future as more Americans view health as the combination of treatment and prevention.

Pharmaca's focus on credentialed staff--from pharmacists to trained natural health practitioners--is key in its focus on meeting the needs of today's consumer.

Here's a look at the company's latest store, which opened in May in Greenwood Village, Colorado.
