Black-owned businesses hardest hit by coronavirus pandemic

Blacks who own small business were more than twice as likely as white small-business owners to have not worked in April, when the pandemic most affected businesses. Black-owned business also benefited less than white- and Asian-owned businesses: Only 12% of Black- and Hispanic-owned business owners received the federal stimulus funds they requested, according to a census survey. Regenerative agriculture moves beyond food markets

Timberland, a Colorado-based outdoor apparel company, has entered a partnership with the Savory Institute to implement regenerative agriculture practices in its supply chain. In October, Timberland contracted with Other Half Processing to create a leather supply chain of ranches that practice regenerative agriculture. In addition, Timberland will help fund the Savory Institute's verification programs on regenerative ranches across the country. Read more at

Is that avocado oil in your shopping cart?

That bottle of avocado oil you just purchased might be rancid. Or it might not even be avocado oil. Scientists at the University of California at Davis tested 22 samples of different avocado oils and found that 82% were rancid before their expiration dates or were cut with cheaper oils. Three of the 22 bottles contained no avocado oil at all. These problems negate the fruit's health benefits. Read more at


Anheuser-Busch InBev partners with drone analytics company

No, AB InBev will not use drones to deliver a six-pack of Bud Light to consumers' doorsteps. Yet. However, the world's largest beer company has contracted with Sentera, which analyzes drone images, to conduct research in barley research. Sentera will tell AB InBev's experts and growers—in nearly real time—what is happening in the fields, problems that might be cropping up and recommendations for fertilizers and water.
