Jeff Sessions out, investor confidence up

When President Trump ousted long-time, very vocal (“good people don’t smoke marijuana”) legalization opponent Attorney General Jeff Sessions on November 8, the industry celebrated—especially investors. US Hemp Authority Certification Program lauches

The industry launched the U.S. Hemp Authority, a self-regulatory program designed to give consumers and regulators confidence that products are safe and legal. Participants that meet the Authority’s standards and pass a third-party audit can use the Certified Seal of the U.S. Hemp Authority on products beginning January 1, 2019. Learn more.

Colorado reclassifies industrial hemp

Voters in Colorado narrowly passed a ballot measure to take industrial hemp out of the Colorado Constitution, which defines hemp as a cannabis plant containing no more than 0.3 percent THC. The Colorado Legislature will likely adopt the federal definition, which proponents hope may, in the future, include language that not only legalizes the plant nationwide, but also raises the THC maximum to 1 percent. Voters approved new markets in Michigan, Missouri and Utah that eventually could generate $2 billion in medical and recreational sales, according to Marijuana Business Daily.
